Q&A with a Romantic Bride Why She Chose Roses Over Rustic
.jpeg)
Soft blush tones, lace-trimmed napkins, floating candles and... roses. Lots of roses.
We caught up with Tadiwanashe, a Zimbabwean bride now based in the UK, who brought her romantic wedding vision to life with every dreamy, delicate detail. From her fairy-lit aisle to her rose-wrapped arch, this bride gave us pure romance without leaning into the usual rustic Pinterest tropes. And spoiler alert: not a mason jar in sight!
Here’s how she swapped rustic trends for a floral fantasy that would make even Bridgerton blush.
💬 The Interview
Q: Describe your wedding vibe in three words.
Tadiwanashe: Dreamy, intimate, timeless.
Q: Everyone’s going rustic lately. Why did you take a different route?
Tadiwanashe: I love how personal rustic weddings can feel, but I wanted something a little softer, more refined. Think candlelight, lace, and lots of delicate florals — especially roses. My grandmother used to grow them in our yard in Bulawayo, so they’ve always felt like home to me.
Q: Where did you find your decor inspo?
Tadiwanashe: I followed Plan My Wedding Africa on Instagram and fell in love with their Candlelight & Blush theme posts. I also created a moodboard with help from my maid-of-honour and used the Plan My Wedding app to find vendors in Zim who could deliver my vision, even while I was in London.
Q: What were your must-have romantic details?
Roses everywhere: I used soft pink and ivory roses down the aisle, on the arch, in the bouquets… even in my hair.
Floating candles in glass bowls and lanterns during the evening reception.
Handwritten love notes on each place setting — each one unique and heartfelt.
A sweetheart table surrounded by candles with our signature cocktails and a blush-toned mini grazing board.
Q: Any local touches that made it even more special?
Tadiwanashe: Definitely! Our welcome table had framed old wedding photos from both our families — including my parents’ 80s Harare wedding. We also had a live violinist play a Shona love song during our private vow exchange.
Q: Your advice to other brides dreaming of a romantic theme?
Tadiwanashe: Don’t feel pressure to do what’s trending. If your heart wants rose petals, soft lighting, and a pink sky moment, go full romance. It’s your love story — make it feel like a fairytale written just for you.
