High school sweethearts turned long-distance soulmates, Jonh and Leah had always envisioned a wedding that reflected their journey—organic, meaningful, and beautifully imperfect. After years of pinning and planning, they brought their vision to life in one of Zimbabwe’s most breathtaking locations: the open plains of Lake Kariba.

💒 The Ceremony

Held beneath a wooden triangle arch draped in dried florals and wild pampas grass, their ceremony felt like something out of a dream. Guests sat on simple wooden benches, the breeze off the lake adding the perfect natural soundtrack.

✨ The DIY Details

Leah’s creative genius came to life in every element—from the hand-painted wooden signage to the linen napkins tied with jute and eucalyptus. Almost everything was locally sourced or made by friends and family. The sweetheart table featured a low cluster of pillar candles, dried blooms, and woven textures.

💃 The Reception

Instead of a traditional reception, the couple opted for a boho-style picnic feast under the stars. Guests dined at a communal table under string lights, with lanterns and dried florals adding a soft, romantic touch. There was no formal dance floor—just grass, barefoot grooves, and laughter echoing across the plains.

👰 The Look

Leah wore a lace-sleeved, deep-V gown with a soft tulle skirt—flowy and free, just like her. She carried a bouquet of bleached palms, bunny tails, and mustard orchids.  Tanaka kept it cool in a tailored stone-toned vest and rolled-up sleeves.
